In 2011, Sen. Ralph Northam introduced SB765 to shift control of the fishery to the Virginia Marine Resources Commission. The Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Nature Conservancy were among those who spoke in favor of Northamâ€™s bill (SB765) before the Senate Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources Committee.

In 2011, Patsy Ticer killed this bill.

Since 1996, Patsy Ticer has accepted donations totaling $3,400 from Omega Protein of Reedville. see www.vpap.org

Save the Bay! Alexandria citizens are urged to tell Patsy Ticer that you oppose this action and wish to see control of the Menahaden fishery transferred to the Virginia Institute of Marine Science and regulated like other fisheries to preserve this important Bay food source!
